Screen yourself for COVID-19 to help build a national database

As we all continue to look at various ways of managing the spread of COVID-19, the Scheme continues to partner with the government in playing our role in the testing and the management of infections. The Department of Health (DoH) is encouraging all Scheme members to monitor their health status and to participate in an online screening for COVID-19, to curb the spread of the disease and to build a national database for managing this disease.

How to take part in the DoH screening:

  1. Send a ‘Hi’ on WhatsApp to the Corona SA number: 060 012 3456.
  2. After the menu displays, type in ‘Check‘. This will take you to the COVID-19 Risk assessment.
  3. Follow the prompts to answer the questions as they appear.

If the assessment indicates that you should be tested, please contact the Doctors on Call hotline on 087 0550 234 for further advice.

If you test positive for COVID-19, please contact the DoH 24-hour hotline on 0800 029 999 or WhatsApp 060 012 3456, for further advice.

The Western Cape government also has its own COVID-19 risk assessment tool that you can use. This tool has now been updated based on the NCID case definition as at 2 April 2020, which places more emphasis on symptoms and less on travel or contact with a possibly infected person.
