NEWSLETTER SUMMER 2020
Dear member

When I wrote the end-of-year message this time last year, we were completely unaware of the chaos and uncertainty that 2020 would hold for all of us.

And we are still uncertain about so many things... When will we have a vaccine? How will our country cope? Will we, our families and our friends come through this unscathed? What will 2021 look like?

Yes, that is indeed all uncertain. But what I am certain about, is that we will get through this stronger than before. After almost a year of living amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, I am yet again impressed by how resilient we are as a species. From those early days in March and April, when fear ruled our lives, we have grown to live 'the new normal' of handwashing, social distancing, and wearing face masks in public.

Worldwide, there seems to be agreement that we need to stand together to overcome this challenge - research is shared freely, and there is hope that Covid-19 vaccines will be made available as widely and cheaply as possible.

With optimism, therefore, and best wishes for you and yours this festive season and beyond,

Julia
